About US
Dr James H.L. Chen is a highly experienced specialist ophthalmic surgeon who has been providing expert eye care to the Central Coast community since 2000.
Dr Chen graduated with a medical degree from the University of New South Wales before completing his internship at Westmead Hospital. He was subsequently selected for accelerated accredited ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital, where he developed a strong foundation in the diagnosis and surgical management of eye disease.
Following the completion of his Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), Dr Chen undertook advanced subspecialty training in vitreoretinal surgery, further expanding his expertise in the management of complex retinal conditions.
Throughout his career, Dr Chen has been committed to maintaining the highest standards of ophthalmic care. He has served as an examiner and mentor for ophthalmology trainees and continues to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to each patient's individual needs. Today, he practices exclusively on the Central Coast.
